Do you live in Ballajura?  Are you under 18?  Did you know a BRAND NEW YOUTH CENTRE is being built next the library & skate park? HAVE YOUR SAY ABOUT IT here!

We want to make sure that you like the new youth centre and feel comfortable going there when it opens next year.  To do that tell us and each other what you think.  You won't always agree with each other, and sometimes we might need to vote to make a decision.  But the most important thing is that YOU are helping make the decisions!

What days and times should the new centre be open?

We currently open 3 days a week for drop in after school on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. What days & times do you think the centre should be open?

What do you want at the new Youth Centre?

The new Youth Centre will have pool tables, computers, football, X-box, table tennis, art & craft tables, a reading room, DJ gear, a dance floor, comfy couches and of course a kitchen / cafe.   

Do you want it just to be a hangout space, or do you think we should run organised activities?  Tell us why.

Should we fence it?

Do you think we should fence the grass between the youth centre and the skate park?  Why or why not?

People so far have said:

"Yes, fence it off!"

  • It's more private - people who are at the youth centre can have some private outdoor space
  • You should fence it so the centre doesn't get graffiti'd
  • I'd feel safer if it was fenced
  • If you don't then all the little kids will be there

"No, leave it open!"

  • It should be easy to just walk in there from the skate park
  • Fencing it will make it look like a prison or a cage
  • It will mean that people who aren't 12-17 can't sit there or walk through
  • If you fence it people will climb in there at night and do dodgy stuff

Would you like to be part of the Dungeon Youth Committee?

We are going to set up a youth committee to make decision about the new centre. Some of the things the commitee will be involved in are:

- the grand opening of the new centre

- what programs we run

- setting up the new centre eg colours, furniture, artwork etc.
