We are going to set up a youth committee to make decision about the new centre. Some of the things the commitee will be involved in are:

- the grand opening of the new centre

- what programs we run

- setting up the new centre eg colours, furniture, artwork etc.

If you are interested send an email to the Dungeon (theres a link at the top of the page)

Do you think we should fence the grass between the youth centre and the skate park? Why or why not?

People so far have said:

"Yes, fence it off!"

It's more private - people who are at the youth centre can have some private outdoor space

You should fence it so the centre doesn't get graffiti'd

I'd feel safer if it was fenced

If you don't then all the little kids will be there

"No, leave it open!"

It should be easy to just walk in there from the skate park

Fencing it will make it look like a prison or a cage

It will mean that people who aren't 12-17 can't sit there or walk through

If you fence it people will climb in there at night and do dodgy stuff

What do you think?

Tom is 9 years old and he sat down with his dad to list all the things he wants in a park. Here is some Tom's list.

Hi my name is Tom and I am 9 years old. My dad showed me this cool playground design, and said I could write here my favourite things for a giant playground.

In order starting with my MOST favourite things:

- Water squirting from the ground like a surprise and the mist area... like at Belmont where they have a mist volcano and water squirters

- Giant swings... not baby size. I like the drawing showing the the tall swing with the hills either side so if you jump off its not too far to the ground but you can still have a giant size swing

- Flying fox - make it loooong! The baby ones are boring

- Cubby houses - big and weird - the ones all different shapes with rope bridges and stuff joining them look awesome

- Long slides down slopes - with twists and turns but still fast

- Fossils to dig up sounds interesting, and other sand stuff like the the wet sand area for making sand sculptures

- Swing for more than 1 kid to sit on... the picture witht he round swing that a few kids can sit on looks cool

Find out what else Tom would like in the park and the thoughts of and what his 3 year old sister.
