I presently use the gym and honestly find it very poor in regards to area size and equipment available.

I use the Gym 3 or more times a week and it is really very small. Sometimes it is hard to get a fair go on the equipment. There is never enought room for streches.

I am a physiotherapist based in Midland. I use the swan park facilities for patients doing exercise rehabilitation programs. The facilities are inadequate, particularly the lack of a proper hydrotherapy facility. There are good ones in other local government areas, and Swan is well behind now. the gym is poor for my patients doing what they have to do. There neds to be an open space for stretching, fitball exercises etc.

I use the pool early in the mornings for swim squad training. There are other people who use the pool who would like to join the swim squad but because they are already members of the Leisure Centre there is no incentive in regard to a member's rate to join the squad. The current cost of $85 for 4 weeks is too much when people have already paid a yearly subscription. Having a discount for members would perhaps increase the attendance in other sporting activities at the centre.

I currently use the pool for walking laps a few times a week and it can get overcrowded when swimming lessons are on at the same time. Or the single lane needs to be shared between swimmers and walkers during this time. I used to use the gym but got sick of the lack of space for stretching/fitball etc as mentioned by others. The crosstrainers at that time were of poor quality also and the gym was very hot. I ended up spending more and travelling further to use better facilities elsewhere. If this is improved I would definately consider a return. Also locker facilities could be much better. The pool area could also do with some more interesting things for children to do, like fountains/slides etc

Even though Swan Park is our local pool we usually drive to other centres. The children's pool is too small to cope with summer crowds. Aquatic centres such as Terry Tyzack and beatty park have more to offer kids such as sprays, slides, water currents etc. I swim laps and like to swim in a 50m pool (I'm sure swim clubs training from here would appreciate this to). For such a large shire this centre is pretty poor.

Currently facilities at the Swan Park Centre are midling to poor. The gym is tiny (far too small for the number of people who use it; and the change rooms need a makeover. A good example to build from is Lords that has a dedicated gym, features community facilities for court sports and swimming. The "play" aspects of the pool are deteriorating, especially outdoors. City of Swan should look to the Bayswater facilities for guidance on this.

As for sporting facilities, Swan Park is a vast stretch of shadeless ovals and dangerously overgrown scrub areas. A plan that devlops more picnicking spaces for families using the sports facitilies and a number of buildings with facilities for sports cubs, public toilets and areas of play should be developed.

Recreation is not just about physical activity, other recreational facilites should be considered also, like a community education centre or a branch of the library. These would help draw in a range of commuity members.
